Actually, not very much. According to the Kappa Alpha Laws each year an alumni chapter must:
- Hold at least one meeting
- Elect officers
- Send a list of members to the National Administrative Office
- File an annual report by June 1
- Maintain a roster meeting the minimum requirements
- Remit any membership dues or assessments charged by the Executive Council by June 1.
Additionally, the chapter must: Within each two-year period, be represented at either Convention or Province Council.
In the first quarter of the calendar year, each chapter will receive a copy of the Alumni Chapter Annual Report. Completing that report and forwarding it, the annual dues and a list of chapter members to the National Administrative Office by June 1st takes care of many of these requirements.
Aside from the requirements outlined in the Kappa Alpha Laws, chapters should generally aspire to:
- Meet regularly and provide a program of activities which will be attractive and helpful to chapter members;
- Maintain an accurate record of addresses of chapter members;
- Assist active chapters whenever possible with their /recruitment rush activities by providing:
(a) Recommendations of prospective members
(b) Financial support for recruitment/rush programs
- Provide a source of alumni advisory committee members and advisors for undergraduate chapters;
- Assist with the establishment of new active chapters whenever possible;
- Annually commemorate the founding of the Order and honor the Spiritual Founder, Robert E. Lee, with an appropriate Convivium celebration;
- Engage in other worthy activities as a group to support the programs of the Order;
- Collaborate with the Province Commander, as requested, in the affairs of the province;
