Installation should be conducted by a national officer (current or past general officers, province commander or the Chief Alumnus), or by a past president of the alumni chapter. After being introduced, the installing officer requests that the new officers line-up, facing the chapter, with the president-elect standing next to the installing officer.
“Brothers, by the will of this chapter you have been elected to serve as its officers for the coming year. Let me remind you to be diligent and faithful in the performance of your duties as prescribed by Kappa Alpha Laws and the bylaws of the ________________ Alumni Chapter, and to maintain this chapter as a recognized unit of the Kappa Alpha Order with credible standing.
“Will the officers, to be installed, except the president-elect, please step forward and raise your right hands and repeat your oath of office after me:
“I solemnly swear . . . That I shall carry out the duties . . . of the office to which I have been elected . . . by the _________________ Alumni Chapter; . . . that I shall assist the president of my chapter . . . and carry out his lawful orders and instructions, . . . and I shall continue to promote . . . the best interests of the Kappa Alpha Order . . . as a lifetime brotherhood of (college men), . . . so help me God.”
“Gentleman, please lower your hands. Will the president-elect please take one step forward, raise your right hand and repeat the oath of the office after me.”
“I solemnly swear. ..that I shall carefully discharge the duties . . . of the office of president . . . of the _________________ Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Order. . . . I acknowledge the customs of the Order . . . as the guiding principles of this alumni chapter . . . I shall carry out the orders and directions . . . duly prescribed by the Knight Commander . . . and the commander of ___________ province; . . . and I shall uphold the Kappa Alpha Laws . . . to the best of my ability, . . . and do everything in my power . . . to promote the best interests of the _________________ Alumni Chapter . . . as a legal entity of Kappa Alpha Order, ...so help me God. “
“Please lower your hand. I declare you and your officers duly installed.”
