New appointments made to Board of Trustees
Todd Shelton | 9/23/2003 When the Kappa Alpha Order Educational Foundation Board of Trustees met Sunday, August 10, 2003, in Tampa, Fla., there were some new faces to be seen.Four new trustees were appointed to the board. H. Lynn Greer, Jr. (Delta Lambda - Middle Tenn. State ‘69), Charles Edward Schmidt (Beta Alpha - Univ. of Missouri - Rolla ‘62), Jeff Thompson (Beta Eta - Univ. of Oklahoma ‘90) and Ted L. Weise (Beta Alpha - Univ. of Missouri - Rolla ‘64).
Greer has served on the Executive Council of Kappa Alpha Order and as KAOEF vice president and chairman of the capital campaign. In 1996, he was appointed by then Governor Don Sundquist to a six year term as a director of the Tennessee Regulatory Authority. He is married to the former Elizabeth McCoyd and has five children.
Schmidt co-founded Baron Aviation Services in 1973 and has served as president and director of operations from then to the present. He serves as alumnus advisor to Beta Alpha Chapter. He ispast president and current member of the board of directors of Beta Alpha’s housing corporation. He is a 1999 recipient of the Knight Commander’s Accolade.
Thompson was 14 years old when he founded Peripheral Outlet, the predecessor to Peripheral Enhancements Corporation in 1986. In 1992, he was invited to attend President-elect Bill Clinton’s Economic Development Conference. In 1994, he was named America’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year by the U. S. Small Business Administration. He continues to oversee his company’s Dallas office.
Weise is a former airline transport pilot and senior vice president of air operations for Federal Express. From 1998-2000, he served as president and chief executive officer of FedEx Corporation. He was a KAOEF Leadership Lecturer in 1999. He now resides in Wellington, Fla., with his wife Sharon. They have two children.
Rolling off the board were Bill Acker and Andrew Heyward. Tim Adams, Jack Taylor and Frank Asbury moved to life-trustee status.
