Knight Commander's Summer Message Ben Satcher, Jr. | 6/29/2004 The new school year is not that far away. I hope that each of you will focus your attention on bringing in new members.Dear Brothers:
Brothers, I want to congratulate you on an excellent year in chapter operations. I am very proud that most all of you acted as gentlemen and lived up to our KA ideals over the course of the past academic year. I encourage you to continue along the same path that you followed this year and stay focused on the continued improvement of your chapter.
The new school year is not that far away. I hope that each of you will focus your attention on bringing in new members. Summer is an excellent time to return home, meet prospective freshmen coming to your school and sell them on all that Kappa Alpha has to offer. Pay close attention to alumni recommendations, as well as legacies, and focus on growing your chapter with fine young men.
In this issue of the Kappa Alpha Journal, you will read about responsibilities we all have as citizens of this great country - specifically your right to vote. I encourage all of you to go out and register. KA teaches us, among many other things, to be leaders on our campuses and in our communities. We have an obligation to be involved in the various affairs which play a role in our lives. Just as you do in your chapter, exercise your right and cast your vote this fall. Otherwise, your voice is not heard and your viewpoint is lost. Regardless of your political views, you can make a difference and, as Kappa Alphas, should strive to meet that end.
Coming up this summer is our National Leadership Institute which is being held at the Hyatt Regency in Austin, Texas, on August 5-7. I encourage as many of you as possible to attend this excellent educational opportunity. The knowledge learned, ideas exchanged and friendships made can be taken back to your respective chapters and put to great use. I look forward to seeing my alumni and undergraduate brothers there.
Fraternally,
Ben W. Satcher, Jr.
