Letters to the Editor
Todd Shelton | 10/4/2004

Dear Readers:

As many of you know, some of our most valuable assets are the ladies that work with us in Lexington to provide the wide array of services to our chapters and members.

They continue to amaze me with the hard work and devotion they put forth on your behalf. With the incredibly hectic preparations for this summer’s National Leadership Institute plus the tremendous work that has gone into the office’s move to Mulberry Hill, these ladies deserve your appreciation.

I encourage you to drop them a note to the National Administrative Office just to say “thank you.”

Fraternally,
Todd Shelton

Dear Editor:

I thought you would find the attached photo rather interesting. There’s quite a story behind it.

Eight-year-old Taylor Leanne Sutton, shown in the photo, knows she can’t be a KA. But that doesn’t keep her from wearing her favorite t-shirt, which just also happens to be a Sutton family antique. The shirt adorned by Taylor (at right) was first worn by her grandfather, Mr. V.C. Sutton Jr.,while he was a pledge of Zeta Chapter (Randolph-Macon College) in 1957.The shirt was passed down to Taylor’s father, R. Scott Sutton (Beta Eta '90), who served as the Number III and Number I prior to his graduation from the University of Oklahoma.

Taylor is planning to hand down the shirt to her one-year-old brother Cooper Sutton, who likely can carry-on the KA tradition. In the meantime it remains her favorite shirt first worn by her “Fawfaw.”

Take good care.

Best Regards,

R. Scott Sutton (Beta Eta ‘90)

Dear Editor:

I’m a KA at Princeton University and very involved in campus and national politics. I pleasantly surprised to see the piece on get-out-the-vote in the summer issue of the Kappa Alpha Journal. It raised some important issues and presented a well-organized voting guide.

I am working in the White House this summer (as are quite a few KA’s) as an intern and we were thinking about ways that KA can get more involved in Washington.

Fraternally,

Evan Baehr (Zeta Beta)

Dear Editor:

I wanted to congratulate and thank you for an excellent job on the rush [recruitment] Journal. Shawn Walker allowed me to borrow his copy from NLI.

Thanks again and keep up the great work.

Fraternally,

Mike W. Jones
