For more than 140 years, Kappa Alpha Order has played an important role in the development of outstanding young men. Since our founding in 1865, our members have had a proud history of consistently high academic achievement, as well as leadership,on campuses across the United States. We, the alumni, volunteers, and staff of Kappa Alpha Order, must strive to give our members the tools they need to be better men by providing leadership and educational programming that will help them throughout life. Our commitment to this goal will enable KA to improve the chapters we have, to reestablish the chapters of our past and to expand to new colleges and universities. There may be some differences in today's KA compared to the one you knew, but the commitment to our core values endures.
We must look to our future and meet the challenges facing our undergraduate brothers. We must address new issues, such as the need for ethical leadership and the ongoing challenges of hazing and drug and alcohol abuse, which have become all too prevalent throughout our society over the last 30 years. Because of the negative stereotypes that have become associated with the fraternity system, coupled with the steadily increasing costs of membership, good young men are missing the opportunity to experience the deep friendships, the mentoring and support and the benefit of adhering to a set of basic values that membership in Kappa Alpha Order, can provide.
Kappa Alpha Order is committed to maintaining its role as one of the nation's top fraternities. The Honoring Our Past-Securing Our Future Campaign will enhance the National Administrative Office in Lexington, Virginia, while providing permanent funding for vital programs benefiting all KAs and concentrating on developing the life-skills of self-discipline, motivation, sound judgment and maturity. Through this campaign, Kappa Alpha Order will accomplish the following objectives:
1. Enable strong and ethical leadership for all of our chapters
2. Provide all members with values-based skills to prepare them for life after college
3. Ensure that the Order can continue to provide these important programs regardless of the economic situation
4. Alleviate the increasing financial burden of membership in the Order
5. Create a place where the business of the Order can be accomplished and our glorious history can be displayed
